The very first Just Swap event took place in April 2019 in Dr. Shirin Venkat’s garage, where the first swap was a bird cage for a djembe — and the youngest swapper, seven-year-old Zanosh Roowalla, made history that day. Since then, these events have been hosted at art and culture centres, local temple halls, restaurants, society clubhouses, and the Resource Recycling Centre in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, which has welcomed several vibrant meet-ups.

From textbooks to clothes, lamps to plants — students love swapping! We’ve already hosted engaging events at Deccan College, with more coming up at Symbiosis University and Fergusson College. It’s a movement that helps young people save money, cut waste, and build a culture of sharing right on campus.
Students who joined the Just Swap as part of their voluntary activities found the idea fresh and practical. While some were initially hesitant about pre-owned items, others quickly saw the value — especially for low-budget, short-term needs. Many appreciated that swaps offer quality goods at a fraction of the cost, within their own hyperlocal community.

A new spin on employee engagement! At Aumni TechWorks, more than 100 employees participated in a Just Swap, exchanging everything from books to desk accessories. One employee even stocked his village library with the pre-owned books he picked up at the event. Swaps encourage creativity, strengthen workplace connections, and promote sustainability at work.
